  • Visit sites in The Rocks where Māori have lived, loved, visited, traded, worked and died since 1793.
  • See Māori taonga (‘cultural treasure’) found on a local archaeological dig site and now exhibited at The Rocks Discovery Museum. 
  • Visit the archaeological dig site where taonga were revealed
  • Listen to waiata (Māori song)
  • Walk down Māori Lane
  • Hear stories spanning  230 years – visiting Māori chiefs; kidnappings; trade, Wahine Toa – stories of Māori women and more…

Tour cost:  Private tours: $400 per tour (for 1- 8 people); Groups 9 +: $50 per head

Kia ora Thank you for booking Poihākena tours: stories of Māori in Sydney. Tours depart from outside Susannah Place Museum, 58-64 Gloucester Street, The Rocks – opposite Sydney Harbour YHA. Look out for your Māori guide who will be wearing a Poihākena tours t.shirt. 
We recommend to bring water, sunhat and sunscreen if hot, and/or wet weather gear if it’s wet or likely to rain. 
Please wear appropriate footwear as there are stairs and some uneven surfaces.
