Enjoy a delicious exploration of 3 of Newcastle’s best and classiest bars. On a beautiful peninsula between the harbour & the sea, Newcastle can be hard to navigate, even for locals. We’ll show you some of Newcastle’s most interesting, hard to find places.
What we’ll learn
The tour is packed with interesting stories from Newcastle’s night time economy to keep you informed and entertained. From Newcastle’s convict settlers to more recent liquor licence changes, Newcastle has been at the forefront to many changes that have shaped Australia. You’ll learn about convict escapees, sailor’s woes, the six o’clock swill, and social and urban changes over the last 200 years.

Seasonal bar snacks and tapas are provided (food varies and may not be the same as photos provided). Please let us know if you have any allergies.
Your guide can also provide recommendations for drinks that you can purchase along the way.
Meeting Point
Your walking tour starts at Newcastle Interchange, Wickham, under the palm trees next to the Light Rail Stop. Your guide will be wearing a Newcastle Afoot t-shirt.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the experience. We start on time and you don’t want to miss out!

This experience varies from night to night! While the tour usually includes the sites & stories mentioned and lasts about 3 hours, your tour may vary depending on what your guide thinks is best for your group’s experience.
Minimum Numbers
This tour requires a minimum of 2 people to book for the tour to go ahead.
Dress Code
Neat dress and closed toed shoes are recommended. Thongs / flip flops are not allowed at some of our venues.
Weather Information
Newcastle Afoot walking tours operate in nearly all weather conditions, so we will go ahead even if it is raining! Please check the weather on the morning of your tour and prepare appropriately – bring an umbrella and rain jacket as needed.
